Lisa Burton-Owner/Director

Miss Lisa has been dancing since the age of 3, and began her teaching career in Murrysville in 1983.  In 1995, she opened as "Steps by Steban" in Irwin. Over the years, she has helped many students achieve their own personal goals, whether it be dancing in high school musicals, on college dance teams, making Rockette auditions, dancing in local theaters, or simply becoming better athletes in school. She is also very proud of her studio's competitive dance troupes for their many awards won over the years at competitions. Now in 2016, she is excited to take her expertise to the Greensburg area, and continue to inspire children of all ages to love the art of dance. Lisa resides in Perryopolis.

Jenny Cameron-Studio Manager/Dance and Acro Instructor

Jenny began dancing at the age of five with Miss Lisa and is happy to still be in the studio as the head instructor. She has been teaching dance for the last eighteen years and enjoys helping students learn and grow to meet their goals. Jenny attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where she was a member of the Dance Ensemble. She graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She then completed her Masters in Reading Education at the University of Pittsburgh. When not busy at the studio, she is teaching second grade in the Greensburg Salem School District. Jenny currently resides in the Penn Trafford area with her husband, Ryan and daughters, Mackenzie and Madison.

Alison Kappes Metz- Ballet Instructor

Alison is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she began her training at the Milwaukee Ballet School. She attended summer programs at the Boston Ballet School, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy at Vail and the Banff Summer dance program. In 1995 she was one of three recipients of the American Ballet Theatre National Scholarship Program. Alison continued her training at the National Ballet School of Canada and at the Hamburg Ballet Schule. At 18, Alison began her professional career with John Neumeier’s Hamburg Ballet, touring to Asia, South America and throughout Europe for four seasons. Returning to the States, she danced professionally with the Sacramento Ballet, the Banff Summer Professional Dance Company in Canada and finally finished her 13-year professional career with five seasons at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She has performed in many full-length classical and contemporary ballets, including works by John Neumeier, George Balanchine, Peter Quanz, Septime Webre, Brian McDonald, Dwight Roden and Ron Cunningham. Alison retired from professional dance in 2011, and graduated with a B.S in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in the Spring of 2012.


Rachel Shojaie-Hip Hop and Dance Instructor

Rachel has been dancing with Miss Lisa since she was a little girl and is thrilled to still be involved in dance by teaching at Extreme Dance Center. When she is not teaching dance, she works for her parents at Jaden’s Catering in Monroeville as the Office Administrator. Rachel attended California University of Pennsylvania, where she had the pleasure of being a member of the dance team for two years. She graduated in December of 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication, focusing in Public Relations.


Kylie Smith-Hip Hop and Dance Instructor

From the age of three, Kylie studied many styles of dance including: ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, musical theater, and hip hop.  As part of the competition company at a local studio, she had the opportunity to compete as a group member and soloist in Charleston, WV, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Las Vegas, NV.  Kylie also had the opportunity of performing on the stages of Walt Disney World, FL.  At the age of fourteen, Kylie began teaching various dance classes at a local studio and Penn Trafford Parks and Recreation.  While studying for her degree at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Kylie was part of the Jazz/Tap Ensemble and took extra classes in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance.  She also returned to her home studio to teach and choreograph both recreation and competition level classes.  Kylie was privileged to choreograph award winning solo and group tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical pieces.  After earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety and Environmental Management with a Minor In Business Administration, Kylie relocated to Los Angeles, CA.  While in CA, Kylie taught classes in tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, and stretch/extension/kick at one of the top studios in LA, The Dance Factory School of Performing Arts.  When she was not teaching, Kylie had the opportunity to take classes at Hype Studios in Torrance, CA.  Aside from dance, Kylie is certified in Zumba Basic, Zumba Gold, and Hip Hop Hustle.  She is also a Beachbody Fitness Coach.  Kylie is looking forward to becoming a part of the Extreme Dance Center team.  

 

Lindsey Lawrence-Dance and Cheer Instructor

Lindsey has been dancing since the age of three.  She has trained at two dance studios in Pittsburgh’s South Hills as well as several Ballroom Studios. She was very involved with all kinds of dance during her High School years as the Dance Team Captain, Cheerleading Team Leader, held featured danceroles also  lead Roles in Musicals and has choreographed many performances for her High School and community. At the age of 14, she auditioned and was chosen to attend the Rockette Summer Intensive at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and now holds alumni status and attends every summer.  She has also performed with The Pillow Project Dance Company. She recently graduated from Seton Hill University as a Dance Major where she was involved in many productions there as a dancer as well as choreographer. She was also the President of the Dance Club at Seton Hill. In addition, Lindsey is a certified Zumba Instructor and Certified Cheerleading/Dance Team Instructor.  She is the assistant cheerleading coach at Yough High School. She is so happy to be here at Extreme and is so thankful to Miss Lisa for this opportunity.

Kat Kerber-Dance Instructor

Kat has danced for over 35 years. She studied under Ken and Jean Pfifer for 15 years and danced with many dance companies. Hip hop and lyrical instruction are a top priority for her as well as keeping it fresh and fun. Dance has helped Kat become a confident, young professional lady, managing a large physician practice. Dance class with Kat will teach your child self confidence and life skills. Her students in the past have won top awards at competitions.  She looks forward to teaching dance to you and your family!

Jackie Sobel

Jackie found her joy for dancing at age 3. She started her formal dance training at the Atlantic City Ballet Theatre, and later moved on to train at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. In her teen years, she was accepted as one of the (at the time) youngest students to be accepted into Point Park University’s Pre-Professional dance program. She moved on to major in Dance at the Ohio State University. More recently, Jackie focused her studies on industrial/organizational Psychology and obtained her Bachelor degree.  Jackie was one of the early members of Knoxville based modern dance collective, Momentum Dance Lab, where she performed, choreographed, directed shows, and served as president. In addition to teaching Modern and Ballet technique classes. Jackie is also a certified Zumba instructor.

Laura Levic-Dance and Acro Instructor

Laura has been dancing at the studio since she was a little girl. She is an experienced dancer in all subjects. Laura has received many platinum and first place awards at local competitions. She is happy to be teaching and sharing her love of dance with students at Extreme Dance Center! 

Khrystal Lynn-Ballroom Dance and LaBlast Instructor

Khrystal Lynn is a ballroom dance instructor from TDI Gresko Ballroom Dance Studio in Greensburg, PA. She began learning ballroom when her family opened the studio in 2005 and has been dancing ever since. With previous experience in the performing arts, Khrystal loves all types of dance and is excited for the opportunity to share her love with others. She has been teaching at the studio for 10 years and is currently training her students to attend ballroom dance competitions later this year. Some of her favorite styles of ballroom are Swing, Cha Cha, Foxtrot, and the Argentine Tango. Khrystal is also certified in LaBlast Fitness, a cardio group fitness class featuring ballroom dance steps, and teaches this class in other ballroom studios and gyms around the area.

Melaine Maxino- Buti Yoga Instructor

Melaine is married with two children, Natalie who is 12 years old, and Nico who is 9 years old. She is 200 RYT certified with the Yoga Alliance. She is also Buti Yoga Certified and is passionate to share what she has learned through Buti and how it has helped her grow!
