Miss Lisa has been dancing since the age of 3, and began her teaching career in Murrysville in 1983. In 1995, she opened as "Steps by Steban" in Irwin. Over the years, she has helped many students achieve their own personal goals, whether it be dancing in high school musicals, on college dance teams, making Rockette auditions, dancing in local theaters, or simply becoming better athletes in school. She is also very proud of her studio's competitive dance troupes for their many awards won over the years at competitions. Now in 2016, she is excited to take her expertise to the Greensburg area, and continue to inspire children of all ages to love the art of dance. Lisa resides in Perryopolis.
Jenny began dancing at the age of five with Miss Lisa, and is happy to still be in the studio as the head instructor. She was a member of Extreme Dance Center's competitive dance troupe for many years where she trained in tap, jazz, ballet, acro, and lyrical. Jenny has been teaching dance for the last 19 years and enjoys helping students learn, grow, and strive to meet their personal goals. Over the years, she has choreographed many award winning and top scoring numbers for the competitive troupes. Jenny attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where she was a member of the Dance Ensemble. She graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She then completed her Masters in Reading Education at the University of Pittsburgh. When not busy at the studio, she is teaching second grade in the Greensburg Salem School District. Jenny currently resides in the Penn-Trafford area with her husband, Ryan and daughters, Mackenzie and Madison.
Christine Rennie Mikrut, was a professional ballerina for over fifteen years with the Nashville Ballet and the Ohio Ballet. She danced numerous classical roles including Juliet, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Sugar Plum Fairy, and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, as well as being featured in contemporary works by celebrated choreographers Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor, and Trey McIntyre. She also performed several leading roles in works by George Balanchine including Serenade, Square Dance, Allegro Brillante, and The Four Temperaments.
Christine received the Individual Artist Fellowship in Dance awarded by the Tennessee Arts Commission in 2008 and was featured as one of the Nashville Lifestyles Magazine's 25 most beautiful people in 2006. She was also awarded an educational grant from the Caroline Newhouse Scholarship Fund in 2010 which enabled her to complete her yoga certification with Sanctuary Yoga of Nashville.
While performing, Christine was an instructor with the School of Nashville Ballet from 2001 until 2014 when she relocated back home to the Greensburg area. She taught all levels of ballet from baby ballerinas to the Nashville Ballet professional company dancers as well as teaching at numerous summer intensives throughout Tennessee. She has taught locally at the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet and Laurel Youth Ballet and is currently on the faculty of Texture Ballet School in McMurry. Christine is excited to join the staff at Extreme Dance Center.
Rachel has been dancing with Miss Lisa since the age of 5 where she trained in jazz, tap, ballet, and lyrical. As her skills progressed, she had the pleasure of dancing on the competitive team. She is thrilled to still be involved in dance by teaching recreational and competitive classes at Extreme Dance Center. She has over 15 years of experience in teaching kids ages 3-18. Her favorite styles of dance include hip hop, jazz, tap, and contemporary. Rachel has choreographed top-scoring routines for the competitive troupes at EDC throughout the years. She also has experience in choreographing for elementary and middle school musicals, along with music/dance instruction at Vacation Bible School. She continues her own dance education each year by attending both in-person and online classes and workshops. Rachel attended California University of Pennsylvania, where she had the pleasure of being a member of the hip hop & jazz dance team. She graduated in December of 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, focusing in Public Relations. When she is not teaching dance, she is teaching fitness classes for LUX Fitness Studio and working for Redstone in Murrysville as a Community Liaison. Rachel currently resides in the Penn Trafford area with her husband, Tyler, and her two dogs.
From the age of three, Kylie studied many styles of dance including: ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, musical theater, and hip hop. As part of the competition company at a local studio, she had the opportunity to compete as a group member and soloist in Charleston, WV, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Las Vegas, NV. Kylie also had the opportunity of performing on the stages of Walt Disney World, FL. At the age of fourteen, Kylie began teaching various dance classes at a local studio and Penn Trafford Parks and Recreation. While studying for her degree at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Kylie was part of the Jazz/Tap Ensemble and took extra classes in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance. She also returned to her home studio to teach and choreograph both recreation and competition level classes. Kylie was privileged to choreograph award winning solo and group tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical pieces. After earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety and Environmental Management with a Minor In Business Administration, Kylie relocated to Los Angeles, CA. While in CA, Kylie taught classes in tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, and stretch/extension/kick at one of the top studios in LA, The Dance Factory School of Performing Arts. When she was not teaching, Kylie had the opportunity to take classes at Hype Studios in Torrance, CA. Aside from dance, Kylie is certified in Zumba Basic, Zumba Gold, and Hip Hop Hustle. She is also a Beachbody Fitness Coach. Kylie is looking forward to becoming a part of the Extreme Dance Center team.
Becca began dancing at the age of five. She has been dancing with Miss LIsa and Extreme Dance Center since she was ten years old. Becca graduated with her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood/Special Education in 2013 from Edinboro University. She then received her Masters in Reading Education in 2015 from Edinboro University. Becca currently is a reading specialist for Pittsburgh Public Schools.
Samantha has been dancing since the age of 5 and has been trained in many styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, acro, and contemporary. She is currently attending Seton Hill University with a double major in dance performance and early education. She is looking forward to teaching in the studio!
Amanda began dancing with Extreme Dance Center when she was just three years old. Growing up in the studio, Amanda found her talent and love for dance. She later began teaching at the studio and sharing her knowledge and experience with students. She has won many top awards while competing with our elite competitive dance troupe and was the captain of her cheer squad at Yough High School. Amanda is attending the University of Pittsburgh with a major in Athletic Training.
Vanessa Clarke-Deaver has been training in dance for 18 years. She has trained with various studios across New York and the Pittsburgh area. She is studying Musical Theatre at Seton Hill University, and has acted, choreographed, and dance captained many theatrical productions throughout the region. Her favorite credits include Charity Hope Valentine (Sweet Charity, Sarah Brown (Guys & Dolls, Johanna (Sweeney Todd,) and serving as choreographer/theatre instructor as a part of The Geyer Performing Arts Center’s community outreach program.
